Minutes for 11-30-2010

2. Moot:

A. Conference and Student Travel

i. Submitting:

ii. Jo has the info for student travel and is prepping what needs to be done.

iii. There will be two panels being submitted for our chapter, both focusing on Graphic Novels as the “Beyond Words” concept.

B. Spring 2011

i. Chris will be reserving the room with AHEC (Edit: Room reserved for Feb. 1st from 4:30-9:30. Burghardt which is 6th floor of Tivoli)

ii. Current date set is Feb. 1st at 4:00-8:00 and we need as many members present as possible.

iii. Will be outlining the kick-off meeting with Sadie during break.

C. Voting

i. Vote taken (by present members and officers) for the creation of a point system. Vote passed.

D. Closing

i. Next meeting to be held at Metropolis at 2:00PM on Tuesday December 21st. This will be a “working” where we will create the point system, outline the kick-off meeting, and anything else that needs to be done.

ii. Prepare student travel information and funds. Jo will be going in to talk with them.

iii. A few people have asked for feedback for submissions. Chris will be helping Jo.

iv. Roberto, Andrew Moser, Sadie Ben-Ari, and Chris will be joining together for a panel for the conference. “Visual Literacy.”

v. General questions in regard to conference.

B. May 5th convocation

i. Meet with S.O. rep by March 31st.

ii. Proposal due April 7th

iii. Finalization April 15th

iv. Jo will work on that next semester.

C. New members

i. Checks due the 15th

ii. Jo has compiled a list and ordered a check. Awaiting the “cut” for the large check.

iii. Sadie says that there people still interested.

iv. Roberto says there was a problem last semester with the check and a few applicants are still listed as “pending.”

D. “Status” of Sigma Tau Delta and participation

i. Having Sigma Tau on your resume is good but no longer of as much note. There is a new focus for participation among the organization

ii. Roberto proposes a points system to perhaps be adopted next semester.

iii. There is a need to drive for member participation; all present are in agreement that a way to measure.

iv. We will be planning events and meetings for next semester.

MORE funding
Use for things to hand out at spring fling. Book marks, flyers, highlighter, pens. That kind of stuff. Everyday use is best. Put on agenda for next time. Brochures!

Salons
One or two per semester, round table discussions, salons, basically the salon idea. Ideas? Profs? Next agenda.

Halloween
Party with phi sigma sigma, phi alpha theta? Social event primarily. Good idea to be pursued. Next agenda.
Blackforeststudios Halloween thing -- Oct 23 and 24th. Ideas? Dead poets. Bad poetry. Next agenda. Are we supposed to write something?

CFC
Adam will work on with Roberto. Tutorial made in process.

Fundraising
Bake sale. Fall -- once per month? Set up “tab” with King Soopers, and another with Office Depot on 16th. Get it set up prior to drop date?
What activities can we get involved in that already are occurring on campus?
Get brainstorm on mailing list.

Convention
Talk to student travel. Make sure that members are aware of deadline etc. Mention in newsletter. Advisor that attends?

Class Presentations
Talking to students in classrooms. We need a brochure! Roberto is designing a schpiel. New membership form online? Agenda for next week

Penny Drive
Not really interested, but interested in fundraising for charities.
Better world books. Find spearhead. Next agenda.

Banned Books Week
No longer through Auraria Library. Multicultural Lounge? Keep it simple! Art gallery style display? Nessa Conley spearheading.

Social Stuff
Salons. Board game night. Flash fiction contests. Book presentations?
